Norwegian Cruise Lines

If you’re thinking about taking a cruise, you should check out Norweigian cruise lines. This new cruise line has a fresh outlook on Caribbean cruises, with it’s world famous “freestyle” cruising concept, allowing tourists to kick back and relax without the restrictions of schedules and planning. If you’re planning your first cruise to the Caribbean, Norwegian cruise lines may be the answer you were looking for.

How established is the cruise line?

Norwegian cruise line (or NCL) is a relative newcomer to the cruise industry, having only begun operations in 1966. The company started with a single, 830-ton cruise ship offering discount Caribbean cruises. Despite its’ youth, NCL quickly established itself as a world class cruise line by pioneering some major concepts in the cruise industry, such as the first “Out Island” cruise, “Cloud 9″ cruises, and it was the first cruise line to begin developing new ports in the Caribbean. Without the innovation of the Norwegian cruise lines company, many of the standard’s of today’s cruise’s wouldn’t even exist.

How many ships are in the fleet of the cruise line?

Another advantage in choosing Norwegian cruise lines is the number of ships in their fleet. Variety is the spice of life, and with Norwegian cruise lines, you have quite a few options to choose from. At present, there are at least 10 ships in the NCL fleet, with more planned in the next few years.

What amenities are offered on most of the cruisers?

This is where Norwegian cruise lines seperate themselves from other cruise lines, having pioneered the concept of “freestyle cruising”. What this means is that there is no rigid schedule for meals, nor is formal attire required at most restaurants on the ship. In terms of restaurants, the ships on the Norwegian cruise lines come fully equipped with up to 13 different restaurants, enough to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. Combined with the “freestyle cruising”, and travellers may pick and choose what they eat, when they want to eat it, and as always, without having to get all dressed up.

It’s worth mentioning that few cruise lines specifically cater to the needs of children. One normally thinks of Disney, but Norwegian cruise lines makes kids feel at home on board as well. They have trained young staff on hand to entertain children, as well as various kid centers, activities, and entertainment.

What regions does it service?

NCL provides cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska, Europe, and South America, with the cruises ranging in duration from just a few days, to several weeks at a time. Chances are if you want to go on a cruise somewhere, NCL has an itinerary for that destination.
